I was probably 13 years

old when I wanted to DJ, maybe a little younger. Grandmixer DST changed it all for me. Who’s that? Well if you know Herbie Hancock and his song Rockit…He’s the DJ cutting the word “Fresh” He is also credited as being the first turntablist and pioneer of making the turntable a musical instrument.

Even so, my love of music came from my parents. My mom always had music on and when I was just a toddler my dad was in a band, and I would nap in the same room where they practiced.

Oldies, 70’s and 80’s is what I grew up on and like many of us as we got older, I would make mix tapes - I love old school hip-hop, house and freestyle music.

I had to do it, I made the jump - I purchased 2 turntables and a mixer in 1991 and in early 1996 I quit my paralegal job in Philly and went full time.

I went from turntable and vinyl to CD and then to the digital laptop/ controller format in 1997. In 2017 the laptop is now a backup and I am fully digital on a beautiful Prime 4.

I was on the club scene for years. Coastline, Adelphia, Egypt, Shampoo, 8th Floor (w DJ legend Joe “Too Cool” Calari), Prospectors, Deja Vu, Ego and many more. I was, up until 2018, the resident summer DJ for SoJo 104.9 Saturday SummerJam and did Friday night live radio broadcast at the Coastline with 106.1 in the mid 2000s (with legendary DJ Frank Cerami) and that is not including the hundreds of weddings and other private events that I have performed at. If there is one thing I have learned in this 30 year career…No party is ever the same. What works one week, doesn’t mean it will work the following. Which means I am still having fun and so should you!

Peace, Love and Respect - Lou
